Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving engaging, socially charged tales. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose work have represented all of those things.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by having a new setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady trust and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the essence of people through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, visionary style to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
