Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
